The Devasthali family awarded $5,000 to Ngage New Mexico through the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico to pilot hands-on children’s exhibits in Doña Ana County. The exhibits will be designed to encourage learn-through-play and parent-child interaction. The exhibits are part of a larger effort in launching a children’s museum
The Devasthalis established a fund in 2011 to support projects focused on the arts, education, child hunger, and maternal/child well-being.
“The grant is the first step in doing something truly unique and innovative in changing the educational landscape in Doña Ana County,” Ngage NM Program Coordinator, Michael Radtke said.
The pilot children’s exhibits will act as a trial to see which exhibits are favorable by the community to include in a children’s mobile museum. The exhibits will be designed to enhance critical cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills and will ultimately be placed in a brick-and-mortar children’s museum in Las Cruces.
